Syllabus

Our "year" will consist of science topics required by the Natrona County School District, as well as the Wyoming State Department of Education.  These include:

     Science as Inquiry--lab safety and equipment, metric system, thinking like a scientist

     Basic Chemistry--elements, atoms and molecules, acids and bases, water, organic compounds, enzymes

     Ecology--ecosystems, food chains and webs, human populations, interdependence of organisms

     Cell Structure and Function--parts of the cell and how they work, cell transport, cell division, types of cells

     DNA Structure and Function--how DNA carries our code, how it copies itself, how it directs protein synthesis

     Genetics--Gregor Mendel's contribution, how traits are passed from parents to offspring, chromosomal abnormalities

     Evolution and Adaptation--what causes variety in a population, how genetics and environment affect survival
